DESCRIPTION:Patti Cooprider’s dream of giving\, “every child in the world the creation and appreciation of art” is exemplified by ICA San Diego’s goal of “being everywhere\, for everyone.” \nThrough the generosity of our donors\, we are able to provide scholarships for our Summer Art Camp to 27 students this year. \nICA San Diego provides the perfect environment for children to explore their creativity and learn new art skills. Our camps are designed to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving\, while also providing a fun and creative experience. \nSummer Camp weeks available for 100% scholarships at ICA Central in Balboa Park:\nCamp for 8 – 10 years old \nJuly 11th – 15th – Learning from the masters: \nCampers will create masterpieces inspired by famous artists such as Henri Matisse\, Georgia O’Keeffe\, Yayoi Kusama\, and Minerva Cuevas among others. Campers will learn about different mediums and surfaces\, color theory\, and techniques. A little bit of art history with a contemporary twist and a lot of hands-on. \nAugust 1st – August 5th – Time Capsule: \nTravel through time and learn about different eras\, cultures\, and architecture. Campers will create objects that represent a moment in time. Draw\, paint\, collage\, and create while visiting historical and futuristic locations! \nCamp for 11 – 13 years old \nAugust 8th – 12th – Mystical Makers: \nFrom dragons to unicorns\, mermaids to gnomes\, this camp is all about imagination! DESCRIPTION:As part of Art Night Encinitas\, the Institute of Contemporary Art\, San Diego (ICA San Diego) invites the community to experience Greg Ito’s Performance as he engages his blooming sculpture at the top of the hill on Saturday\, July 23 at 6:00pm. \nThis performance is the conclusion of his exhibition All You Can Carry\, which closed on May 15\, 2022. His outdoor installation will remain onsite until further notice. Greg Ito will go on a journey of regrowth as he traverses the land with all the water he can carry to the summit. Ito’s performance symbolizes the Japanese-American experience of the internment camps during World War II and the rebuilding afterwards\, incorporating personal histories of his own grandparents. \nThe performance begins at 6:00pm in the Education Pavilion Garden at the ICA / North Campus. Support for this program is made possible through Anat Ebgi Gallery\, Los Angeles. \nRSVP here! \n  \n \n  \n*Please be advised that the sculpture walkway has a mild rise to the top of the hill where the performance is taking place.
