Learn the fundamentals or level up your wheel throwing skills in this supportive, hands-on class. Beginners will focus on centering, pulling walls, and creating basic forms. Intermediate students can refine techniques, explore new forms, and build consistency.
With a main focus on functional pottery, beginner students will learn how to use the equipment in the studio and how to use the wheel while more advanced students will further use the wheel as a tool to create work made partially or entirely from thrown forms.

In this 6-week class, you’ll learn to create functional ceramic pieces by hand—no wheel required—while diving into the expressive world of modern majolica-style decoration. We’ll focus on building forms like mugs, plates, platters, and tiles using slab and coil techniques. After bisque firing, you’ll decorate your pieces using a white glaze base and layer on color with underglazes and other paintable colored glazes. Explore techniques like brushwork, layering, line work, and pattern to bring your surfaces to life.
