Teen Art Portfolio Intensive
An immersive 12-week, skill-building program designed to help high school students create a dynamic, professional art portfolio, learn about creative careers, and prepare competitive applications for college and beyond.

About the program
Over the course of the intensive, students will explore various mediums, meet with school recruiters, and receive personalized guidance from experienced instructors and ICA staff.
Through hands-on projects, critiques, and exposure to contemporary art practices, participants will refine their technical abilities and artistic vision. By the end of the program, students will have a well-rounded portfolio ready for college applications, art competitions, or future artistic endeavors.
Expected outcomes
Develop a cohesive portfolio of artwork for college applications and beyond that demonstrates technical proficiency, creativity, and a distinctive artistic voice.
Experiment with diverse artistic media and processes, expanding technical skills and confidence across multiple materials, techniques, and contemporary art practices.
Strengthen critical thinking and communication skills by participating in critiques, presenting artwork, and incorporating constructive feedback into the creative process.
Prepare competitive college and scholarship application materials, including a polished artist statement, résumé, and an understanding of portfolio submission requirements for art schools and universities.
Gain knowledge of creative career pathways through interactions with practicing artists, college recruiters, and arts professionals, enabling students to make informed decisions about future educational and professional opportunities.

Requirements
Students must have access to a laptop for the duration of the Intensive. This course is open to all high school students, and is most strongly recommended for high school juniors and seniors.
