Certificate Program
The ICA Ceramics Certificate Program is a comprehensive foundational program for individuals passionate about deepening their knowledge, proficiency, and enjoyment of the ceramic arts. Designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary ceramic techniques, participants will explore various methods of hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and firing processes, guided by experienced instructors who are accomplished artists in the field. The curriculum includes hands-on studio work, theoretical studies, and opportunities for creative experimentation, fostering both technical skills and artistic expression.
The ICA Ceramics Certificate Program consists of the following course framework:
Certificate students complete at least two of the following:
- Beginner Wheel Throwing
- Intermediate Wheel Throwing
- Advanced Wheel Throwing
- All Levels Wheel Throwing
- All Levels Handbuilding
- Raku
- Nerikomi
- Majolica
- Kintsugi
- Creation and photographic documentation of a comprehensive portfolio of ceramic pieces
- Mastery of various ceramic techniques, including hand-building, wheel throwing, glazing, and different firing methods
- Preparedness for careers in the visual arts, whether as independent artists, educators, or professionals in related fields, supported by an in-depth knowledge of studio procedures and an ability to resolve technical challenges
- Connections with a community of fellow ceramic artists, fostering collaborative opportunities and ongoing growth
