Join us at ICA San Diego / North for the unveiling of Graft (2023), a newly installed sculpture by Edra Soto, generously donated to the museum by the artist, supported by the Sahm Family Foundation, and now permanently part of our public Sculpture Trail.
For more than a decade, Soto’s Grafts have reimagined the geometrically patterned rejas and quiebrasoles of Puerto Rican homes, transplanting these architectural forms into new landscapes. In doing so, she creates poetic meditations on identity, displacement, and belonging—structures that, like the word “graft” suggests, take root and grow anew in unfamiliar ground.
Celebrate this important addition to the trail and join a conversation between Soto and ICA Curator, Jordan Karney Chaim as they discuss the evolution of her practice and the meaning of Graft at our North campus.
6 PM – 7 PM | Explore ICA/North’s Sculpture Trail and view Graft
