In this six week class students ages 13-17 will begin by learning the basics, focusing on 3 essential steps of the throwing process: centering, opening, and pulling. Students will be led in working with ceramics, hand-building and wheel throwing, learning slab construction, pinch pots, surface texture, clay impression and more.
Sharpen your observational skills and deepen your understanding of the human form in this dynamic figure drawing class.
In this 6-week class, you’ll learn to create functional ceramic pieces by hand—no wheel required—while diving into the expressive world of modern majolica-style decoration. We’ll focus on building forms like mugs, plates, platters, and tiles using slab and coil techniques. After bisque firing, you’ll decorate your pieces using a white glaze base and layer on color with underglazes and other paintable colored glazes. Explore techniques like brushwork, layering, line work, and pattern to bring your surfaces to life.
Children ages 8-12 will have the opportunity to explore how to shape clay as a creative medium.
